Couples Counselling

At Elpizo, we are passionate about relationships and healthy marriages. We understand that the needs of couples are unique and multifaceted. That’s why we provide both a male and a female therapist in every session. Our dual-therapist approach allows for comprehensive and balanced support, fostering effective communication, and promoting mutual understanding within the relationship.

Pre-Marital Counselling

Prepare for a lifetime of “I choose You Everyday”

Four in five couples will spend an average of about $45, 000 on their wedding budget, and takes  10-18 months as well as 200-500 hours to plan it. However, only  one in five couples budget for premarital counselling though studies show that couples who had completed a from of premarital counselling had a 30 percent increase in marital satisfaction compared to those who hadn’t undergone such counselling

Being intentional about premarital counselling allows you to get more out of your marriage and perhaps prevent major challenges down the road. Premarital counselling prepares you for a realistic perspective on marital expectations. It might not be an investment into your wedding day, but it is an investment into your marriage and future.

You will receive between 8-10 sessions focused on areas such as:

How it will help you

These sessions can help you practice crucial relationship skills, so that you can be more aligned on major aspects of your relationship, creating a stronger foundation on which to begin your marriage.

Couples Therapy

Our aim is to strengthen your relationship and reduce high conflict that could lead to separation or divorce. You will find hope in our solution-based approach and learn proven ways to bring about change in your relationship. However, this requires commitment from both partners, vulnerability, honesty about thoughts and feelings, and the willingness to see and validate the different perspectives that can often create the biggest misunderstandings and conflict.

Our couple therapists have extensive training and experience providing couple and relationship therapy using tested and proven methods such as the Gottman Method, Family Systems Theory, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Hope Focused Therapy etc.

No, OHIP does not cover Psychotherapy.

Clients with extended health benefits may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement of service fees, depending on their insurance provider. We accept insurance reimbursement as Psychotherapists, Social Workers, or Counsellors. Check with your extended health benefit if you are covered.

Couple therapy needs are different. After the initial 2-3 sessions of gathering information, intake, hearing your presenting issues, goals, assessments etc. your therapists will give you some feedback and collaborate with you on the therapeutic plan and the number of sessions you might need.

We believe in treatment plans that are adaptable, flexible and creative so that they can be adjusted as outcomes are accomplished.

You will be assigned a male and female therapist to work with you and we do our best match you with therapists who are skilled in the reasons that brought you to counselling. We appreciate that sometimes for one reason or other the connection does not work.

If that happens, please give us a call. We can review your needs and look at other therapists that may be a better alignment to your specific needs.
